Hetton Town Mayor Cllr Dave Geddis with winners Louise King and David Merrington
Hetton le Hole residents Louise King and David Merrington have been selected as winners in the competition launched by Hetton Town Council. At a presentation held at The Hetton Centre on 18 September, David and Louise were given gift cards to the value of £100.00 each by Town Mayor Cllr Dave Geddis.
Cllr Geddis who judged the entries said “The Council is keen to recognise the efforts made by residents to keep their gardens and yards looking colourful, neat and tidy and this helps maintain civic pride in the area. Louise and David had clearly made a real effort. “
Louise, of Station Road in the town commented “The competition is a great idea – my yard was actually nominated by a relative without telling me! The letter I received to let me know I had won was a nice surprise.”
Winning garden owner David, of Hertford Crescent added “I take real pride in the garden and am delighted to have won.”
Prizes awarded were Sunderland Gift cards which can be bought and used in a variety of experiences and retail outlets across the Sunderland area. The gift cards support the Town Council’s aim to promote local businesses.
