Hetton Town Council has recently been made aware that an appeal has been lodged with the Planning Inspectorate in relation to Gladman’s application to build up to 255 homes on land off North Road, Hetton-le-Hole.
The Council is aware that this proposal has attracted significant concern and objection from residents over a number of years. We would therefore encourage residents who have concerns about the development to submit their representations directly to the Planning Inspectorate as part of the appeal process.
The Council has also been informed that Sunderland City Council will no longer be defending its refusal of the application. It is therefore particularly important that local views continue to be heard during the appeal process.
All documents relating to the planning application and appeal can be viewed on Sunderland City Council’s Planning Portal using this link: 25/01432/OUT Land Off North Road Hetton-le-Hole
Your objections can be submitted to the planning inspectorate via this link: Comment on a planning appeal
Representations must be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate by 2 July 2026, appeal reference: 6008403
Hetton Town Council will continue to represent the views of local residents and will be submitting its own detailed response to the appeal.
